Do private sellers have any liability that they wouldn't have in the UK? I've recently sold a car having disclosed all it's history etc and the buyer is now complaining two months later because the cam belt has gone - he knew it hadn't been changed for 75,000km when he bought it (at 1200 euros below the Argus auto valuation too)Any info gratefully received... Val_2
Did you put this in writing to him when you sold the vehicle? Things like this can crop up but if he knowingly bought it and agreed that it hadn't been changed its his word against yours and without that all important written proof......As a private seller you don't have to give 6 months guarantee that a garage or 12months that a dealer has to give, only a CT with at least 18months to run still. Thanks for the information.
