Lavie
I'm trying to get a car ins quote online and am a bit confused by the following:When entering car details i am asked for 'Puissance Fiscale' and have to select an option between 1CV and 40CV. Does anyone know a way of finding out the CV in a car with a 2 litre engine, for example? The only one i've ever heard of is a 2CV citroen!! Anton Redman
I have never found a full indexed list try searching on google.fr for for instance 'Puissance Fiscal Peugeot 306 HDI' There is no straight correlation with engine size because turbo chargers etc mean one 2 liter can be 7CV and another 9CV. Val_2
Well I still have my 1985 VW Scirocco GTXi stored here and it is insured as 9CV having a 1.8 petrol engine if that helps. We also have a 2.0litre van amongst our collection which is also registered at 9CV so there is no clear cut guide. My daughter has a 1.1 Pug which is 4CV. Nick Trollope
'er indoors' Toyota MR (I wonder why they don't call them MR2 here?....) has a 2L engine that produces 220Bhp & yet it is insured as a 9CV. Work that out if you will...

Lavie
From a french car enthusiasts forum:"Le calcul de la puissance fiscale reste un grand mystére...en ce qui me concerne. Exemple: pour le C-Max: 136 cv 100 KW= 08 cv et 133 cv= 07 Cv !! "At least it's not just me that's confused!
