bottleofbolly
We are planning to leave a Renault Espace or similar in France so we can save the small fortune we spend on car hire at the moment. Can anyone advise what rules and regs we will have to adhere to i.e. will we have to tax, mot and insure in France or will we be covered by UK documentation?Any advice greatly appreciated Bottleofbolly
Will
If you want to do it legally, then the vehicle will need to be registered and insured in France. However there are large numbers of British vehicles in France with no UK road tax or evidence of French insurance - the legality or otherwise of this has been done to death in these forums. mascamps.com
Assuming that it's legal to keep the UK plates on, don't forget the not inconsiderable fortune in insurance for the car. You generally can't insure UK registered cars with French insurers. Arnold
