cs
We have a 3 year old car with personalised number plates. Is there anyway when we shortly move to france on a permanent basis that we can keep these plates (there not our initials but refer to the car itself) or would we just be better off selling the plates in the UK and re registering the car before we move.Look forward to hearing good news ! cs
Iceni
Of course you can keep the plates - but not on the car once re-registered .Suggest you take yr profit before leaving.Johnnot
Val_2
Thats correct. Personalised plates do not exist in France, everyone is allocated a number for the vehicle in the dept it is registered in - no exceptions except for military or diplomatic. Nick Trollope
You can keep the plates "on retention" - check the DVLA website. They could only ever be used on a UK registered car, however.BTW, you can'r register a car here before arriving, only after.
