Val_2
...Yesterday 1000 motorists on the N176 & N12 from Rennes to Brest caught by over 300 police and gendarmes and the helicopters in just four hours. Most were speeding but a fair few were just plain dangerous drivers - the coffers will be overflowing methinks shortly with all those fines coming in! Baz
I knew that French drivers as a generalisation are not regarded as the best, but what an appalling figure of one driver caught every 15 seconds over a 4 hour period in a very limited distance. This really shows that whatever actions the police and gendarmes take is probably not enough to curb these bad drivers. I hope that this exercise is repeated regularly over other areas of France so that it may lead to better and more considerate driving. Baz
Val_2
Yes its not been a very good year here in Brittany for accidents which numbered in at 850 (+3,91% up on 2004) but less deaths at 128 this year (-17,41% against 2004),but in dept 56 Morbihan Brittany the actual deaths for a dept were up +66,67% against 2004 results. There were also 2500 drivers caught speeding already this year b smaller contrôles over the region. Why the report even says that one of the motorcycle chief officers was hit and injured by a car that they signalled to pull in during Friday's operation.
