Mustang sally
Good morningOur car has just failed its CT for the 2nd time on emissions being too high %CO 0.51 and Lambda 1.07. Pass levels are %CO=0.30 and lambda 0.97-1.03.(what is this lambda?)I have taken it back to the garage and they have said that it needs a new sonde de lambda. Can anyone tell us what this is and if a new one will solve the problem of both emission levels being too high. I'm not sure they know what they are doing. Perhaps I'm being a bit naive but I thought that a simple adjustment of the carburettor or fuel injector system would solve the problem. Our car is a 1996 Peugeot 106. Any helpful comments would be appreciated
derf
Lamda Sensor It's a fairly common problem with modern cars and most have no easy to do mechanical adjustmentsIf the car is in good condition with new spark plugs, clean air filter etc. then it could very well be the Lamda Sensor have a look on this link to see how it works.http://www.picotech.com/auto/lambda_sensor.html
Mustang sally
Thanks so much Les . Has set our minds at rest that the garage knows what they are talking about. We had never heard of such a thing.
