peter gers 32
help [*-)]we are planning to take our classic car to france but the number plate is worth more money than the veichle.so our thoughts are sell the plate and get a new one in france.is this possible? or does this become coarse when you regerster a veichle? or do we apply for a plate ?any links or post would be gratefull
Anton Redman
I think it has to be two steps. Sell the registration number in UK and obtain new age related number for car. Then register the car in France which will generate an new French number.
Jc
When you get rid of the plate in England the DVLA will issue an age-related replacement;if you just take the whole vehicle to France the DVLA won't let you dispose of the registration. Sunday Driver
...if you just take the whole vehicle to France the DVLA won't let you dispose of the registration.
...and the French won't let you use the plate when you get here. Val_2
Thats right, you have to stick on the plate number you are issued only and nothing else. You may get more for it sold privately in the UK or keep it just in case you decide you have made a mistake in moving to France and want to return.
