Russethouse
Some of you may know I have broken my left shoulder [:|] (I am in the Uk) I see the specialist on Thursday but it seems likely I may need to have an op. If there is a long wait we may consider changing our car ( I'm getting cabin fever) to an automatic gearbox model. We are happy with our current Picaso and wonder if anyone has any comments about the automatic version ?( I can steer fine, I can change gear too, but after a while its uncomfortable)[au]
Sunday Driver
Can't help with the Picasso, unfortunately, but my previous UK car was a VW Bora 130 with the Tiptronic automatic box. Lovely to drive (particularly on the daily commute into Brum) and came in very handy when I broke my collarbone and three ribs! Downside was when it went in for service, the courtesy car was a manual version and therefore very awkward to drive with a frozen shoulder. My current car is a LHD automatic BMW. Go auto and you'll never regret it.

Russethouse
Thanks Christine, I tripped in the kitchen and landed on our hard tiled floor ! I am going to need an op but much to my amazement its this Monday (take back all I said about the NHS) and back in a sling for 3 weeks.............If it heals well, all well and good, but if not we may go for an automatic gearbox. We had an auto Espace which was true 'armchair' driving, the downside is that they sometimes are problematic and are expensive to fix.........We have a Picasso which we are happy with, I just wondered what the auto version is like. Iceni
GayIn the bad old days many diesel engined cars were relatively low powered so when fitted with an auto gearbox were painfully slow. Now that most have turbos it is not so much of a problem. Why not beg/borrow/steal an auto for a few days ? Go down to the local Citroen dealer and wear out his cars while you play.Good luck anyway, whatever you choose to do.Johnand
