Re-registering french car in the UK

Hi there

I'm hoping maybe someone can help!

We spent a year living in France 2004/2005 and returned to the UK in 2005.  Whilst in France we bought a french car and as it is such a reliable car we really want to keep it and register it in the UK.

Has anyone else done it this way around?  I find the DVLA's website really confusing, but as I understand it I need to be inusred in the UK, have a UK MOT, and fill in a form V55/5.  Those bits are all fine, but what I am confused about are how to get a certificate of conformity from the Manufacturer (Ford) and the Customs and Excise form we are supposed to have.

Has anyone else done this or have any top tips?

Any advice would be much appreciated

Many thanks

If you phone the DVLA in Swansea, you'll find they're very helpful.  They'll send you an import pack containing all the documents you require - V55/5, customs declaration form, plus extensive guidance notes.  They even say that if you take the forms to your local office, they'll help you fill them in.

Regarding the certificate of conformity, just pop into your local Ford dealer and ask them to order one from the factory for you.

Piece of cake.....[;)]
