mooky
My friend died, and her family said I could have her car, as they didn't want to go through the trouble of taking it back to England. Somehow they threw away the garte gris. How on earth can I get the car changed to my name. It was english and has all other papers but no carte gris. Sunday Driver
Without the carte grise, you're in a bit of a hole. So you need to obtain a duplicate. The only person who can request a duplicate garte grise is the person to whom it is currently registered, ie the deceased, so ask the executors make an application to the prefecture. Once they have the duplicate, they can complete the necessary documentation transferring ownership to you and you can then register it in your name.
