Hi

Perhaps ... if this is wrong then someone wiser will know better than me.

When I took my 9 year old Saxo to the garage for an oil change they asked me if I had had the 'courroie de distribution' changed; having no idea what that was but by dint of pointing and expansive hand movements etc we all agreed that perhaps this might be the timing belt and, yes, it had been changed at 8 years by my garage in the UK.

Thank you Sue, that sounds like wot he said to me! Now I can go ahead with complete confidence. If they fit the wrong part, you will be hearing further from me. (Only kidding!) Once again merci beaucoup!

it's most definitely a Courroie de Distribution, we have many vehicles and DH tends to replace them as a matter of course and goes to the parts place for them but the one time he didn't replace it on my own car and the cambelt snapped, needless to say another engine :( and a new cambelt .  I had to go in the garage and ask them to order my cambelt and it was a Courroie de Distribution
