Sunday Driver
If the PTAC* of your proposed car is over 750kg - and virtually all cars exceed this limit - then you will need a trailer to carry it. The trailer will need a PTAC sufficient to carry the car therefore it will need to be a braked unit. As such, it will need to be registered in its own right with its own carte grise, its own number plate and its own insurance. As far as driving the combination is concerned, if the PTAC of your Hymer plus the PTAC of the trailer exceed 3500kg, then you'll need category (E)B on your driving licence. In any case, you must not exceed your Hymer's PTRA** *PTAC = total authorised all-up weight of the vehicle (or the trailer)**PTRA = total authorised all-up weight of the combination of Hymer and trailer.
