cs
I am driving a 2 year old right hand drive Renault Modus and have decided to change it for a left hand drive new or nearly new Renault Modus ready for our retirement to France in a few months time. I will sell the rhd in the UK. Would it be cheaper and simpler to buy a left hand drive and french registered Modus in France or get a left hand drive ordered in the UK and re-register when we get to France. We are in 53, Mayenne. Thanks in advance for all replies received.Chris
Sunday Driver
New UK spec Modus Authentique 1.5DCI list price is £10,205 ( approx 15,500 euros). You can get a quote for a LHD version from Renault Tax Free Sales. Delivery (costs extra) is quoted at 12-14 weeks..New French Modus Authentique 1.5DCI list price is 14,350 euros. You can buy the UK car VAT free (less 17.5%), then pay the French TVA (19.6%) on arrival in France so the additional 2.1% makes the UK sourced car even more expensive to buy and export to France. The alternative would be to buy the car VAT inclusive and run it for six months/6000kms before exporting it to France.Clearly, buying a French car is less hassle....
