palfers
I intend to do some touring this year and want to buy a motor home. Does anyone know how prices compare between buying in France and UK? I have heard that they are considerably cheaper if bought in Germany. Does anyone have any experience of this? Many thanksPalfers
Sunday Driver
Prices will vary and there will be bargains to be had in every country. My own German registered Hymer cost less to buy than in the UK, but then exchange rates were particularly favourable at the time. Also bear in mind the import/registration costs associated with a foreign purchase as well as the hassle of not buying locally. It''s also worth pointing out that a motorhome is a very complex item in terms of mechanical and habitation reliability and a foreign dealer guarantee might end up being worthless if you have to take the van all the way back to them for any rectification work. For Germany, check out the price and availability of used vans on mobile.deFor France, check out camping-car.comStart by doing your own research...[;-)]
Val_2
Our neighbours bought theirs in from Germany and to be replated here had to go through strict inspections at the local DRIRE centre. Their son imports them into the UK for a living from Germany.
