We plan on living in france full time once we have found somewhere to live! Sunday Driver Posted November 12, 2007 Share Posted November 12, 2007 You will probably find that your UK insurer will cancel your policy when you inform them that you are now living abroad. Once you take up permanent residence in France you are obliged to re-register your vehicle here, so you can take out a French insurance policy at the same time.Your UK driving licence is valid for driving in France and unless you commit a traffic offence involving penalty points, you will not have to change it for a French licence.
