Madame Gateaux
Can anyone help,we moved to France last year,we brought with us our 2year old Renault Megane, which we had French registered in July2006.Our car was 3yrs old in September of this year.Had I been still living in the UK it would have been due its first MOT.Should we have put it forward for a control technique in September or is it due 2years after we had it french registered as a friend has told us? cooperlola
4 years from the date of first registration (in whatever country!), then every 2 years.
Clair
Your friend is mistaken. It is the date of first registration which is taken into account. The date of first registration should show on the top left corner of the carte grise. The first CT is due before the 4th anniversary of that date and can be undertaken up to 6 months before that anniversary. The car was 3 years old in Sept 2006. Its first CT should have taken place between March and Sept 07.
Madame Gateaux
Thanks Clair, our car was actually 3 years old in september2007,so am I right in assuming the CT is due anytime between march and sept 08.
Sunday Driver
Yes, although getting it done that early is of no benefit.
