Camping Car - Control Technique

I have just been informed by my local garage, and confirmed on a couple of  government sites, that as from 1 Jan 2008 the visit complementaire is no longer required for camping car of less than 3.5T.  [:D]  It may also be of interest that this also applies to hearses and handicapped vehicles

Mine's over 3,5t so it still needs an annual test regardless......[:(]

VISITES TECHNIQUES COMPLEMENTAIRES 10/10/2007

1 - DOMAINE D'APPLICATION

La présente instruction technique spécifie les modalités de réalisation des visites techniques complémentaires et des contre-visites techniques complémentaires.

Elle annule et remplace, à compter du 1ER janvier 2008, l'instruction technique SR/V/023 - E du 26 novembre 2001.

Les visites techniques complémentaires visées à l'article 4-1 de l'arrêté ministériel du 18 juin 1991 modifié, s’appliquent aux véhicules à moteur dont le poids total autorisé en charge n'excède pas 3,5 tonnes et dont l'essence ou le gazole constitue la ou une source d'énergie, à l'exception :

- Des véhicules du genre VP(1),

- Des véhicules ayant une des carrosseries suivantes : CARAVANE ou FG FUNER ou HANDICAP(1)

I'm still very much a debutante with the language (trying hard mind you...) and can't follow the official version yet.

Are we talking about the annual re-visit for emission checks - and if so does that mean I'm OK with our 2,800kg-ish Hymer/Fiat, even though the windscreen sticker implies that I need an annual check?

Yes, the visite complimentaire is the intermediate annual emissions check.  Your van is under the 3,500kg limit so you no longer need it.
