Beemer1150
Just supposing someone had been silly enough to miss a village sign... and had a nice Gendarme with a camera and radar stop them to point out the error of their ways. How long would it normally take for them to receive a request for some additional cash for the State? Paul King
Hi There,Being new to France - what does a village sign look like and does it automatically mean a certain speed limit through the village? Many thanksPaul.

Beemer1150
OK before anyone else says it... how can you miss a dirty great thing like that! Dusk, distracted by rivetting conversation about fitted kitchens...Might have been able to plead ignorance - if only I hadn't changed to French plates only the week before! Mr Coeur de Lion
I had a camera flash me when I was in Chamonix two weeks ago. Only started out on my journey and just settling into the long drive home. I think I was doing 100 in a 90. I was in a courtesy car (as my car was in for repairs yet again), so would imagine any speeding ticket would go to the garage before reaching me. I'm hoping it was out of film as it would mean I'd have to go through the hassle of changing over to a French licence.
JSA Aude
Perhaps I'm being rather thick (?) but why would you have to change to a French licence.? Both myself and the OH have received speeding tickets (him more than me!), we are both on UK licences, just paid up through the post and never heard anymore. Mr Coeur de Lion
How do the points go on then?Well, perhaps if I do get a ticket, I'll just do what you did and let them do all the chasing if I do need to change it. Good news if I don't[:)]
JSA Aude
Hi, seems I didn't get any points!! There was some talk a little while ago about a reciprocal agreement between european countries re points on licences but haven't heard anything for a time. Beemer1150
That's good news on the points, I'll keep my fingers crossed the same happens to me. The fine is bad enough but I really don't want the hassle of changing to a French licence to take the points off! I have heard that sometimes categories can disappear in the transition. It was two weeks today and nothing in the post yet...
JSA Aude
I think you are in the clear - mine on the route skirting Montauban arrived two days after I had speeeeeeeded (5 kms over). Hope so and good luck.

Mr Coeur de Lion
My speeding fine arrived yesterday, about 5 weeks after being caught by a camera.Bit disappointed that the French cameras don't take photo's, the Aussie ones do. I was hoping to put this one in the album too.Oh well, that's a hattrick of speeding fines in different countries (England, Oz and now France).Did 99 in a 90, how many points is that? The documentation doesn't say, only that points are to be added (or taken off). I'm just going to send the money in and see if they chase for the points to go on my licence.Do I need to inform my insurance company?

Mr Coeur de Lion
The car I was driving was a courtesy car (as my car was in Peugeot for repairs - again), so I guess 2 weeks of that was the French authorities sending Peugeot the fine, Peugeot sending it back and then the authorities re-sending to me. So I guess you are safe mate.
