trees
Following that route, there seems to be a strip of land left un-tilled beside the road, and marked out, as if for a dual carriageway. There aslo seem to be similar strips of land marked out to bypass certain of the villages.Anyone know what's going down? Sunday Driver
At a rough guess, I'd say they're going to build a dual carriageway that will bypass certain of the villages......

trees
Via Michelin shows a By Pass due for completion in 2007
So it does: a bit late then, but it's also going NORTH of Voves. The road I use goes north FROM Voves to Chartres.
BJSLIV
I suspect that they may have started work on the planned reopening of the railway line from Chartres to Voves. They originally budgeted 101 million Euros for a new Chartres to Orleans links, of which Chartres -Voves was a 38 million first stage. It will restore links removed donkey's years ago.Unfortunately the funding of Voves to Orleans was cancelled , so that part might never get built.........Its one of the flagship projects favoured by Region Centre (Socialist) which is not so highly rated in Paris.Despite that Chartres Voves is due to open in 2013.http://www.rff.fr/pages/projets/fiche_projet.asp?lg=fr&code=938&codeRegion=
trees
I don't think it's a railway line. I am interested in railways, and for a start it's not laid out on anything LIKE a railway alignment, it just parallels the road.Secondly, therer already IS a line between Chartres and Voves, relativley straight, and FAR easier to upgrade than to build new...... Peter The Great
There is a short bypass being built, north-west of Voves, taking the D17 away from the town. This is due to open sometime this month.Regarding other major work in the area, the town of Ymonville on the N154 is due to have work on a bypass starting soon.On a larger scale, the whole route between Rouen and Orleans is being upgraded to at least dual carriageway standard (but gradually). Awful bottleneck that it is.
