timc17
This is probably a question for SD.I'm hopefully buying a van at the weekend but cannot find anywhere in my insurance cover details a clause that allows me to drive it or any other vehicle with third-party cover until i know the reg number etc of said van. Is this normal with French insurance policies or have i missed something within the policy cover?
Hereford
When we bought a "new" car we arranged the insurance in advance, then had to go to the garage and telephone the insurance agent with the (temporary) number plate details and the cover note (green slip) was faxed to the garage.Once the permanent number came through we had to get the insurance certificate amended. Quite a palaver all round.H.
Sunday Driver
This is normal for French motor insurance - it's the vehicle specified in the policy that is covered. There's no such thing as third party cover for 'driving another vehicle with the policyholder's permission'.This means you'll need to follow Hereford's advice and phone your insurer with the van's details.
