Patf
How long would a french license be acceptable to use in the UK? Until a person commits a driving offence and loses points? Thinking of the situation if we return to live in the UK and have french licences. I've done a quick search and can't find the answer.
Sunday Driver
If you return to take up residency in the UK, then your French licence is valid until age 70 or for three years after becoming resident, whichever is the longer period. As a resident non-UK licence holder, you would not be able to take advantage of the fixed penalty system for road traffic offences and would have to attend court. However, you can avoid this by registering your community licence with the DVLA, who will then issue you with a UK paper counterpart to accomodate any fixed penalty points. Patf
Thanks SD - very helpful. When my husband changed to a french license they only took the pink card. He still has the UK paper counterpart.
