Clair
A new type of car insurance described as "anglo-saxonne", is now available with some French insurers. The cost of the insurance policy is based the hours at which the car is used as well as the mileage covered. These are monitored by a GPS and an electronic chip fitted to the vehicle. The CNIL (French Data Protection Agency) has refused insurers' requests to register the speed and location of the vehicles covered.Example: Solly Azar
Pierre ZFP
Well it hasn't worked in the UK. This is an extract from BBC's Money Box programMoney Box has learnt that a radical new way of paying for car insurance, run by the country’s biggest insurer, has been suspended less than two years after it was rolled out. Norwich Union’s ‘pay as you drive’ policy used satellite technology to track every journey and promised to bring down the premiums for people who avoided driving at certain times.
