Clair
As of 1 November 2008, motorists have extra time to make electronic payment of fines. Offenders who pay their fines by internet oronline stamp in posts offices or suitably equipped tobacco retailers havean additional 15 days (in addition to the initial 45 days) to pay their fine. Those who pay late will be liable for the full cost of the fine, but will be given a 20% reduction if they pay within 30 days of the despatch date of the increase notification sent by the Trésor public. However, these measureswill not apply to drivers convicted of road offences warranting an appearancebefore a judge.source
woolybanana
There is a case against the French govt. before the European court at the moment which may lead to changes in the system as it has been impossible to appeal satisfactorily against fines and even to get hold of the fotographic evidence from the cameras, and the Ombudsman is an ineffectual git.
