wallifer
My OH has brought over another car but the V5C is in his name and not mine, as I am a resident and he is not, should I get it changed into my name at the DVLA or can that be done when I re-register the car for French plates ? AnOther
It is not necessary to be resident to register a car all he needs to do is provide evidence of an address in France, an EDF bill is usually favourite, then he should be able to register it in his own name. If this is not possible then I believe you can make an attestation that he lives at your address when he is in France. You do know that it's possible to register in joint names e.g. M et Mme ? Sunday Driver
If you wish to register this car in your name, then you will have to provide the prefecture with evidence that you are now the owner. To do this, you can both sign a certificat de cession showing that the person who's name appears on the car's registration document (your OH) has passed title over to you. You can download a certificat from HERE.Tick the box marked 'cédée à titre gratuite'. wallifer
Thanks Sunday Driver, do I fill out the form on line and then print it or print it out and then fill it out
Sunday Driver
Easiest way is to download it to your computer, print it, then fill it in by hand - the form tells you which copy you need to take to the prefecture.
