Bluebell
I've just received a statement from my car insurer to give to the taxman to claim some money back for last year's insurance. Apparently I said my car was going to be for professional as well as private use but I don't remember that at all. Since I didn't work or earn anything at all last year I can't think that I would.Anyway, what I want to know is, if my car is insured for professional use, am I paying more than I would if it was just for private use? Do I need to get on to the insurer? I've just paid for this year.
gosub
I am sure that you would pay more for professional use, rather than just private, contact your insurers and correct the mistake asap.
Will
We have full professional cover, including passenger insurance (for taking clients around), on our French-registered car, for use in Judie's work. I reckon it costs nearly twice the standard cover, and is not repaid by her employer, but is allowable against tax. As you have already paid it may or may not be possible to get the cover reduced, but you should certainly make sure it's sorted out well in time for your next renewal.
