Wendy
I was at a park with the kids today when a fellow drove in with a car that stopped everyone in their tracks - an E type Jaguar 4.2 (fixed head coupe) 1965 I think- stunning condition. All the men had their cameras out...anyone here ever owned one...?
Gluestick
Yes.Both 4.2 FHC and Drophead. The FHC in Primrose (Yellow) and the DHC in Carmen Red.And an XK150: a MKI 3.4 and two Mk II 3.8s.All exceptional cars.Excepting that whilst the E's could (In theory) hit 140 MPH + (Given sufficient space they could just about hit 150) the brakes weren't up to the task. And the roadholding left much to be desired. Perhaps the very worst aspect was the front acted as a sort of reverse airdam and created a cushion of air on which the car sat; making the front-end very twitchy. Particularly at speed on a motorway when a side gust (from an underpass e.g.) made progress somewhat exciting!Wonderful classic looks, though; with a bonnet that simply went on forever........................
