DerekJ
I didn't want to divert Cathy's thread on trailers so I thought I'd start another thread. If I want to have a trailer permanently in France (at our secondaire) can I just bring one over from the UK and leave it there. I only want something within the 500kg limit so nothing too big. It will be towed by a UK registered car when we are over for our visits to the house. The trailer would have a UK registration plate matching our UK car of course.Any likely problems with that?
AnOther
Not that I can see, seems perfectly OK. Do watch that all up weight though [;-)]
DerekJ
Thanks Ernie. The brochure says my vehicle is Ok to tow up to 750Kg (unbraked).
AnOther
I meant the trailer all up weight not the combo. Flics have been known to target UK cars with trailers and caravans and worst case they can both fine you and immobilise the trailer, even happened to my neighbour with French plates on his car but an unregistered trailer which was pretty obviously over 500kg, having a handbrake was a dead giveaway [blink]. DerekJ
Ernie. The related wights from the manufacturer seem to be:Kerb weight 1,964 KgGross vehicle weight 2,570 KgMax tow weight braked 2,200 KgMax tow weight unbraked 750 KgNose weight 88KgSo I think I should be fine with an under 500Kg trailer, won't I?btw, the car in question is a Hyundai Santa Fe diesel).
