StevenKing
HiI am visiting France on holiday next week and have been trying to get myself insured on the vehicle we are taking so I can share some of the driving. To get short-term cover with a UK company seems quite expensive - £60 for a week. What I was wondering was whether it's possible to get insurance with a French company - I only need cover for driving in France for the week we are there, UK cover not needed at all. Does anyone have any experience of this or ideas on whether possible (and perhaps any reliable insurers?)Many thanks!S
Sunday Driver
French motor insurers provide cover on a twelve month contract basis for vehicles registered in France or in the process of importation and registration. You will need to resolve your problem in the UK.
Théière
Would getting yourself added to the policy as a named driver be any better?Short term cover is always expensive because of the hourly rate insurance companies must earn to keep them in the style to which they have become accustomed
StevenKing
Thank you both. Adding to the driver's policy as a second driver didn't work out any cheaper, which surprised me. Had a feeling the French insurance wouldn't be a goer. Cheers!
