Polly
Forgive me if this has been raised before, but do I need to present a certificat de non gage (certificat de situation administrative) with the bundle of papers at the Préfecture when I go to re-register a second hand French car I am buying?I ask because I'm acquiring it from an elderly English chap who doesn't know what I'm talking aboutFrom my reading of the vos droits site, it's not in the bundle of papers required for re-registration yet the vendor is supposed to give me the certificat. Clair
It is not required at the préfecture. The vendor supplies it to the buyer to show that the vehicle has not been declared stolen, is not subject to an unfinished credit agreement, does not have unpaid fines against it, has not been declared a wreck after an accident. It can be obtained online: https://siv.interieur.gouv.fr/map-usg-ui/do/accueil_certificatIt's all down to how trustworthy you think the vendor is. Polly
Thanks Clair, you confirm my understanding of the papers. The honesty of the vendor is unquestionable, the car itself is over 30 years old and not worth a lot, I'm going to take it off the road & rebuild it.
