RicandJo
If it's a UK plated car just take it to the scrappy with your V5 and they'll take care of it. Send your 'scrapped notification' from the V5 to DVLA in UK.If it's French plated then I guess someone else in the know will reply shortly..... Patf
You need to go to the prefecture first . They should give you a list of recognised scrapyards, and a form which states that the car is yours to scrap, no-one has a lien on it etc. They do a bit of research on this first, you have to show them the carte grise. Then you go to the scrapyard and they take the car and documents, and (I think, can't remember exactly) a document which you MUST take to your insurer asap. With ours I went to the scrapyard first to make sure they would accept it. Then the prefecture.
woolybanana
Hang on though, that car is worth something like €1000 in the scrappage scheme so maybe some would give you a couple of hundred euros for it so they can use it to get a new car cheaper? woolybanana
Ah ok, so good for June then, even if the scrappage value is lower.
krusty
Not so easy if the French scheme is the same as the UK you have to have owned the car for 12 months or more , by that time the scheme will have ended.
woolybanana
6 months here apparently and the scheme is slated to run next year I think, but at a slightly lower level
