zx9rider1974
I wonder if anybody could help me please. I live in the UK and currently have a car for sale. I have been contacted by a potential buyer from France showing interest in the vehicle. If possible, could somebody please talk me through my requirements and obligations in order to sell the car? Many thanks in advacne for any advice offered.
Sunday Driver
Basically the same process as selling a car to a buyer in the UK. Only difference is, instead of handing the green tear-off change of ownership slip to the buyer and returning the V5C to Swansea, give him the V5C (which he'll need to register the car in France) and send the green slip to Swansea with a covering note explaining the car has been sold for export. Your liability for the vehicle is then discharged.Usual anti-scam precautions apply......
Cat
Are you 100% sure that the buyer is genuine?http://www.autotrader.co.uk/safety_and_security/vehicle_export_scam.jsphttp://www.autoshippers.co.uk/car_shipping_scam.htm
Benjamin
When we recently bought the camper car in the UK I believe that there is a section on the V5C where the seller can declare the vehicle as exported. They then pass the remainder of the document, as Sunday Driver says, to the purchaser.
