steveg22
Hi,I have just been to my local Citroen dealer to work a deal out on a new Berlingo Multispace and he has told me that he we will take my 2 Renaults in p/x and supply the Berlingo fully configured for left hand-drive, speedo in Kms etc. This will solve the problem of getting rid of our 2 UK spec cars when we move over. Am I correct in assuming that, unless I have it delivered to the docks at P/mouth (!!!) it will have to be registered in England and therefore it will be treated as a personal import when I take it to France and I will just have the normal re-registering procedures to follow. Is there anything else that I need to be aware off. Thanks for your help as always.Steve
powerdesal
Think about the VAT.As far as I am aware, if you import a car that you have owned for less than 6 mths you will be charged VAT. If you get VAT free in UK you save 17.5% and pay French VAT at ??.I suspect that if you pay UK VAT and its less than 6 mths ownership you will still be charged French VAT and will have to claim UK VAT back.No doubt there will be others with more info though.
