Will
It looks like it's rated at 5CV. Assuming you are in 81 (which is where Montagne Noire seems to be) then the carte grise will cost you about 175€. For insurance there are so many variables, you would do best to ask a local agent.
Pads
Hi will and thanks Im just this side of 11 whats a carte grise cover ?
Will
Carte grise is the registration document. You pay a fee to get a new one (under most circumstances - change of ownership being one). The fee is based on the 'puissance fiscale' - i.e. number of CVs, which are worked out partly on the engine power output but more on the carbon emissions. It's rather like road tax, but you pay it once-off when you register the vehicle rather than annually. Fees vary between prefectures. You can find out more at www.carte-grise.org. There is no road tax as such for private vehicles.Best to ask a local agent about insurance, although you could try one of the few on-line insurers. mint
You could try the people who insure your house? Sometimes, you get a small discount for giving the business to the one company.
