granddadjohn
Hi Guys, We're planning a trip into Switzerland and a couple of questions; can we purchase th vignette for motorway travel at the border? Is fuel cheaper in Swirzerland than France? and finally, will they accept cash in euros? anything else we should be aware of... Thanks in advance, as usual, for the help. Suandpete
Yes, you can buy one at the border - in fact they won't let you in if you don't! They take euros with no problems at all. We were last there at Christmas and fuel wasn't any cheaper then....
andyh4
..............and don't speed. The Swiss have some of the sneakiest speed cameras in the world.Examples, built into plastic traffic bollard at a motorway junction, and built into the central reservation crash barrier. Oh and they will pursue you in France
Swissie
Petrol is about 30% cheaper than in France - but of course you may lose a bit on exchange rate. The vignette is CHfr 40 - as said above available at border.Where abouts will you be going? I live in the Swiss Jura.
woolybanana
Just a point here; the vignettes are only for motorway use so if you go in on the smaller roads and keep off the m-ways, it is not necessary, as for example if you were going to Geneva for a day out. (Unless the law has changed since I last did it).
AnOther
Please take note:Even if it's in the boot switched off the mere possession of a Satnav with a speed camera database will, if it's found, result in confiscation and a possibly a fine to boot [:'(]
