woolybanana
Who issues this document svp? What papers are needed to get it? My mate is in the process of registering an elderly Terrano and has been asked for this. I know it is proof that the relevant taxes have been paid (ie TVA), but who actually issues it, so I can tell him where to go, so to speak? Thanks guys in advance. cooperlola
Our tax office did mine. I took along the bill from when we bought it which had the VAT clearly shown. Even in English it was enough.
Iceni
In one tax office the only document acceptable as evidence of identity is an EDF bill. In another office my word, as an officer and a gentleman natch, was enough. As regards the car, a V5 and purchase invoice were ok.John
woolybanana
This gets complex then; the Terrano is several years old and has been run in France on Brit plates for a couple of years. The owner is deceased and his brother is now trying to register it on French plates. Bobo knows where a proof of payment comes from!
cooperlola
Its age is the giveaway but can't the executor give the brother a bill of sale of some sort? SD is the chap for this! (No insult intented to the other wise posters around here....)
woolybanana
SD, where are you?
Chancer
Just write your own backdated receipt for its sale from the UK owner to the deceased guy, there is no TVA in the transaction anyway.
cooperlola
Just write your own backdated receipt for its sale from the UK owner to the deceased guy, there is no TVA in the transaction anyway.
Well I guess the technical owner and the inheritor may be one and the same person now as the deceased should have done this ages ago. But there's not going to be much comeback on him now, is there? TVA can be an issue years after purchase if it were originally bought for a commercial use, imo, hence the need for the QF. But certainly more SD's field than mine.
idun
We were initially told that we needed this and then when it came down to it, we just needed a certificat de non gage and I downloaded that from our prefectures web site.If we had had to get it, then I would have gone to our tax office. Sunday Driver
As far as the tax office is concerned, they generally only want to see a purchase invoice if the age of the vehicle is borderline for TVA being due. They probably won't insist on one for an older vehicle.Moving on from here, the brother will need to provide his prefecture with proof of ownership when applying for the carte grise. Assuming the vehicle owner died in France, the notaire handling the estate will have provided him with an attestation passing title to him.
