Old (vintage) Ferguson tractors

Two friends have been restoring an old TEA20 Fergie and have now reached the end but have found the 6 volt battery they have is no good|

Does anybody have any useful advice on (a) where to buy a suitable one and (b) secondhand ones - new ones I believe are very expensive.  In 37/86 area.

Do not know when the tractor you refer to hails from but it would seem folly not to have a correct style of battery from the period no matter what the cost.

In the UK there are a couple of firms that make the old style black batteries. From memory one is Lincoln Batteries.

Will firms post batteries, I know I couldn't get anyone to send me one when I needed one for my motorbike.

Unless you are going for authenticity, it is quite easy to convert the tractor to 12 volt - then the choice of batteries becomes vast; the price for the conversion plus the battery is probably less than a specialist 6 volt battery on its own.

Will get them to try the various options - I would go for the 12 volt conversion myself to save trouble in the future, but it is not my call.
