NormanH
I read often that 'there is no traffic' in France. It's not true down our way where a section of the A9 is being limited to 90Kmh while another parallel section is built to relieve the congestion...http://www.midilibre.fr/2011/08/30/le-prefet-propose-de-reduire-la-vitesse-de-110-a-90-km-h-sur-une-portion-de-l-a9,379342.php
Pierre ZFP
Similar situation on the A31 (aka E21 or E25) from Nancy to Luxembourg and return, for a distance of some 110 kilometresIt used to be a 130Kph autoroute but now is 110 and in parts down to 90I have been told 2 different reasons whya. To ease traffic congestion (which is awful in rush hours and holiday times)b. To reduce pollutionSo take your pick
Gardian
Yes Norman, this is just the small section to the south of Montpellier that is particularly busy, probably because it's used to avoid a lot of the city traffic clag. They introduced the 110 kph limit a couple of years ago didn't they and most seem to abide by it - probably because of the cameras!I'm rather sceptical as to how much it will help, but it certainly won't delay traffic flow by much, so no big deal.
