yorkie
Hi,We both have French Driving Licences and do not seem to have filled in the form correctly because some entitlements are missing. I now find myself requiring to drive a vehicle over 3.5 tonnes.Does anyone know the procedure to add extra entitlements to the licence? Thanks
AnOther
Don't know the procedure at the prefecture but the first thing I would do in the circumstances is get a letter of entitlement from DVLA, that will at least prove to them that you are entitled to the entitlement on your French licence. You will have to phone DVLA for it, you can't apply online. You will have to have a medical for category B+E which is what you are missing.
Sunday Driver
Yorkie wants to drive a vehicle over 3.5 tonnes so it's category C1 which he is missing....
AnOther
Thank you for the correction. B+E is for towing of course whilst C1 is for vehicles which themselves weigh up to 7.5thttp://www.direct.gov.uk/en/Motoring/DriverLicensing/WhatCanYouDriveAndYourObligations/DG_4022547As an aside this thread prompted me to look at my own licence which reminded me that I have C1E which is vehicle and trailer up to 12t !Strangely as it may seem I've never found a need for that in the near 45 years I have had it [:D]
