cpr7
Dear all,Anybody got any info on new builds. My wife and I are currently looking for land in and around the deux-sevres area upon speaking with loads of estate agents it 'appears' to be cheaper to have a new build and further more you can then get what you want rather than spend what ever on restoration. How ever an agent informed us that the builders they know are happy to work off a 'thumb style' drawings and they will build what ever you ask. What about the legalites. Our idea is for the builders to build the skin and roof and first fixes of the plumbing and electrics (for guarantees) then for us to do all the rest at our leisure again hopefully cutting costs but can we do this? Teamedup
Are they really trying to tell you that the planning authorities would accept thumb style drawings? Sounds like they are spinning you a yarn to me.
Viv
We opted for a new build through one of many companies geared up to do the whole process in France. Having selected the exterior design of our house, we could arrange the interior rooms as we wanted within reason, making them bigger / smaller. We wanted a much bigger kitchen and the loo in the bathroom, none of which was a problem. You do have a certain amount of flexibility. It wasn't without its problems but overall, we are pleased.
