car breakdown cover

Can anyone advise me as to which is the best car breakdown policy to have.  We use the AA in the UK, but are going to be spending afew weeks at a time in France.  I would prefer to have cover as an individual as opposed to a specific vehicle.

I found policies on the internet with Green Flag and Mondial for about £63 and £73 respectively for an annual, multi-trip policy, up to 31 days abroad per trip. Will that do you?

Have you asked about extending your AA cover to Europe? Otherwise, if you take out another breakdown policy you will probably end up duplicating your existing UK cover, I don't think any UK breakdown insurance providers offer European-only cover, it comes as part of the package that also includes UK breakdown.

In France, car insurance normally includes breakdown cover, it isn't something you take out separately and in any case not on a UK-reg car.

FWIW I used to use Britannia Rescue because their European cover was more generous than most, it might even have been unlimited, can't remember now.

Try ADAC.de they offer a excellent service. They cover you not the car so you are covered for driving different cars throughout the EU.

Used ADAC for years. Covers you all over Europe (including Turkey) - if not resident in Germany then they will fax you a payment form to complete and either fax or post back to them. Their helpline folk speak English.
