Théière
Hoddy on my last trip they were re surfacing the tunnel so further disruption but apparently the bridge should re open soon as it passed the loading tests.Expected on the 26th of August. diversions are well sign posted and it's easy to avoid the bridge and most of Rouen. Hoddy
Thanks for our reply, Theire.I'm thinking that their plan to stay at one of those hotels near the cow island won't work, I wonder if you can confirm that ?Thanks.Hoddy
Théière
I can't give a 100% answer as It's been 3 weeks since my last trip but, I give some advice to our visitors assuming the resurfacing work has now finished (anyone?)The choice is to continue into Rouen (A28) ignoring the signs and diversions and you will find the tunnel into the city will only allow you to take the right hand tunnel exit. Take this exit (N15) and you will arrive at a roundabout. Take the first exit (turn right) and you will follow this along the bank of the Seine, passed the first bridge you come to (it is one way and you can use that one on the way back) the next bridge you can take, (Pont Boieldieu) left after the bridge to the Quai Jean Moulin and back on the original route (D18E) to the cow roundabout and it's facilities. DerekJ
We're due to return to the UK on the 27th, so with a bit of luck the bridge may be open but it seems we're likely to hit delays with the tunnel.I guess we will need to decide whether we continue to take the diversion via Pont de l'Arche or hope to see signs confirming the other bridge is now open. PaulT
I note from the website that the bridge has only been closed 659 days!

vette
I have just read on the Connexion website that the Pont Mathilde re-opened at 5pm today.About time too!
PaulT
Apparently, it was open until 3pm for pedestrians and a Classic Car show and then closed until 5pm for it to be cleaned up.Wonder if the Classic Cars were current models when the bridge closed. vette
Haha. Had to laugh at that one PaulT.I am now wondering if the tunnels are open again. Mind you, the French do seem to crack on when resurfacing their roads.Les.

Hoddy
Thanks for all the helpful replies. Our guests have just gone back to England. In the even they didn't need our help because they had a navigation system which seemed to know if there was a fly on the road.Hoddy
