Jonzjob
I have just bought a TomTom GO 6100 and am really pleased with it. We have a Citroënn Grand C4 Picasso, 2015 version, semi auto gear box, . One of the problems I have had is that there was nowhere to mount the 6100 So far it has just sat in the bottom of the centre 'glove box' and was not very satisfactory. It won't stick to the flat glove box door because it's a fuzzy felt type covering and there just isn't anywhere else for it.SWMBO (she who must be obeyed) pointed out the 'staple' part of the closure for the glove box and I got to thinking? I decided to try a piece of perspex to slot into the 'staple' and with a bit of adjustment finished up with a perfectly stable mounting. Very simple, but very good, well think so??The perspex is about 3/16" thick so quite stableAnd bent with some careful heat it holds quite tight but is easy to fit and removeThe 6100 is easy to see and will swivel to either sideAnd it doesn't impede on the electric parking brake either. All in all I am rather pleased with it and although it took me a few hours to sort it would now take about 30 minutes or less now I know what I'm doing.. EuroTrash
Or, you could stick it on the windscreen (or buy a universal mount if it won't stick) and still be able to use your glovebox to put things in and take things out of.I can see that it's a neat arrangement, and you say it's easy to see, but don't you feel you're taking your eyes too far away from the road looking down there? Jonzjob
You don't know the C4 or you would realise that if it were stuck on the windscreen it would be so far away you couldn't see it and if it were at the top of the screen it would be in the way of the sun flaps. as for looking down, that's not a problem and very little more more than where the built in GPS would be. Suits me where it is now.The box is quite small and there is large box between the driver and pax, plus boxes under the seats, Plus, there isn't anything showing that a GPS is in the car as when it's left anywhere everything is well out of sight and there are no marks on the screen. It all packs away in that centre glove box.
Théière
Jonz, I have a little black disk that came with a mount I bought and I bonded that to the curved in all directions dashboard with a modified polymer in black so it matched the euro grey plastic [:)] and the satnav sucked on to that ok. Also the side window can work well if it's comfortable to view as I prefer mine mounted higher up (it has photo realistic views of the upcoming junctions so handy to take a glance) It looks like a cup stand when the satnavs not there and I use it as one as well so the cup doesn't slide off (when stationary) There is also a bean bag affair that has a tacky under surface to stop it sliding off and satnav just sits there like an old hippy. That's what my Brother uses.
Jonzjob
I looked at all sorts of places on the dash and it either hid instruments/switches or was partly behind the wheel. The side window puts it a little too far forward and difficult to reach to change anything. Plus, where it is it's hidden from the outside and there's no wires trailing all over the place because the 12v power socket is inside that central box.
