Suitable Career change for French Living??

Hi!

At present I am employed within the Print Industry in UK. I'm becoming disillusioned & am considering evening courses to retrain. I'm considering Painting & Decorating. Purely as I see it to be an ideal opportunity that offers portability for work. I know of courses in UK which may in 2-3 years of study get me to the required level of acceptance & compitence to not be labeled as a 'Cowboy'.

Does anybody have any info/recommendations as to this being a good switch to becoming self-emloyed in France.
I spent time in France as a Stagiaire & have for 4 years studied French in UK, currently commencing business French, so I at least speak some if not fluently.

So, the idea would be to spend time here attaining qualifications, then consider a move to France to commence self-employment in that field.

Any advice, info or Horror stories would be welcomed.
