Thedunnes
I am only at the threshold of trying to look into going over the France to live and work, whilst the wife and children will remain in the UK for certainly the next 5 - 8 years. My wife is the principal earner in our family and whilst I have plans that will earn me an income it will be drawfed by my wife's earnings. Does anyone have any experience of how the french regard spouses who are not both resident for tax purposes in France.I am sorry if this has been covered before, but I could not find a relevant thread.Stephen (19)

Johndeb
My wife works in the UK and comes home at weekends. Her earnings are taxed through PAYE and the French authorities are aware of this. My income is taxed in France as a small business - I have some property I rent out and have just started offering my experience in managing pools to others in the Herault area around M****illan, having had bad service from an English guy locally ripping people off (no I won't name him). The Authorities lump our total earnings together to decide in which tax band we sit but only tax me on a percentage of the French income. You could talk to the tax authorities. I found them very helpful. John
