Registering with the Chambre de Metiers

Does anyone know what documentation the CdM would require when registering as a self-employed carpenter. I have heard different stories as to whether NVQs are acceptable and also that just trading for several years in the UK will suffice.

Why not go along and ask what they require. When we registered it wasn't even a requirement but seems times have changed over the years. What is NVQ by the way? Don't forget that the week's full stage in french will cost you over £100 payable up front when booking the next session which is only held about three months when they have enough people usually over 20.

I am still in the UK, unfortunately the recent slow down on house sales has delayed our move out there. I am writing an email to them, but with my dodgy French I'm not sure what sort of reply I'll get.

NVQ National Vocational Qualification

NVQs are work-related, competence based qualifications. I believe there are several levels, say 1-5.

Thanks Pagnol. Still never heard of them ,though we have been away a long time so they must be something new.

my husband is going on the stage in the first week of december and it costs 220 euros.As for the NVQ city and guilds we will let you know next week when he takes his certificates down to Agen. People who we know that have completed the course have said the NVQ are recognised over here but you have to have them translated.
