justinandeloise
Does anyone know where teaching posts in the French state system are officially advertised? ie. a newspaper or internet site.
Tourangelle
Unfortunately, they aren't. They don't advertise. The only way you will get one is by doing their exams. It is like getting a civil service position in Britain. The only place you could possible look is the rectorat of where you live to see if they are looking for supply teachers.Jane

M
First you have to pass the CAPES exam - a concours, so it's competitive, in French, and the numbers who pass depend on how many teachers are needed for the coming years. Then, those who pass are nominated to their first school - they have little or no choice about where they are sent, and it's likely to be some inner-city place, becuase that's where the jobs are! You have to work to accumulate enough points before you can ask the Education Nationale to transfer you to somewhere you want to be! Still interested in teaching in the French State system?!Malcolm
