Crevette
Having read "a year in the merde" I was surprised to read that legally you are allowed time off work (without taking holiday/rtt) to sort out the administration.I think (not surprisingly) that you are also allowed time off work for union meeting. I was wondering if this applied to other aspects of french administration such as ;Time off work for meeting a tax inspector, Time off work for parking permits, etc.If anyone could find the law/link it would be useful to see. Here's hoping!-Rob-
Crevette
Hi John,I can sympathise - I am really sick of all the bureaucracy as well. I have spent days off of my own time just being messed around at the prefecture sorting out car registrations, car permits, taxes, banks, etc. I will probably have to waste half at day getting a residents parking permit (despite sending off the details more than a month ago, faxing through the details, and ringing more than 30 times - almways engaged).I spent almost two hours getting to work today because of the strikes...My old manager openly said that in France they have much less staff than the UK conterpart which is because the staff are much more expensive due to all the social laws. Now I am a part of all this, I can totally see how wasteful some things are - but I want to know my rights as well (hence the question). There have already been a few circumstances where my colleagues have been profiting all along but not me (I found out 9 months into paying 90 euro's a month for a carte orange that the company reimburses half this cost each month - my colleagues were surprised I didn't know this).Anyway, lets hope things improve and the bureaucracy gets less. Good luck with your business.Regards,-Rob-
