Karen_Ian
Hi,We've the opportunity to do some translating but haven't done it before so have no idea how much to charge or how (by time or words etc) or really how long it would take. It's a long technical manual - if that makes a difference. Any advice would be welcome. If in happens we'll then worry about the next bit (and look at other posts) re living in france/paid by a uk company! Thanks
Tourangelle
I used to work for a company that was an agency for translators, and they charged by word, I believe this is fairly standard practice.
PaysBasque
I think you need to put something like 'translation price per word' into Google and see what comes up. The prices tend to be between €0.10 and 0.16 per word, but you will have to decide for yourself how difficult this translation is (technical terms) and if you want to charge a base fee for taking the job at all, like €50 base fee plus the translation price in cents per word.
