palmeira56
I understand that some "permanent" conditions qualify for 100% refund on medical treatment, hospitalisation (excluding meals) etc. Does this extend to medicines required and if so, are the pills to control high blood pressure and cholestorol available at the 100% rebate for E121 holders or everyone or no-one? Coco
My step-dad gets 100% back on his blood pressure pills. He got this under his E106 and now he gets it on his E121.
palmeira56
Thanks Coco. Do you know how he did it? Did his UK doctor give him a certficate or something when he went to live in France?
Teamedup
You will have to see a french doctor who will decide upon your treatment and do the necessary paperwork.
Washy
Not all medicines are refunded 100 per cent. I have 100 percent cover for arthritis but the medicines I take for Meniere's and cramps are blue label medicines and these are charged at 35 per cent to the patient. I pay about 2 euros a packet on these although for me they are essential drugs. The main drugs for arthritis and blood pressure are thankfully refunded at 100 per cent. Coco
My step-dad didn't need any kind of letter or certificate. He just went to see the Doctor here and told him that he had been having blood pressure medication in the UK and showed him the packet.
Teamedup
And does he get these free Coco?
palmeira56
Seems from what you all say that it is possible to get 100% rebate for blood pressure pills. Does anyone know if the same applies to those for Cholestorol?
Teamedup
Sorry palmeira, what do you mean? Rebate yes, we do get 100% rebate as the mutualist tops up the difference, but not 100% reimbursement from the SS. Confusing or what?
palmeira56
Sorry - my mistake getting the terms wrong. I meant 100% reimbursement from the SS rather than the insurance making up the difference.

Teamedup
Palmeira, it is in no way automatic that the SS give 100% back as they don't, we only get 65% back from the SS.
