Business Names

Does anyone know if there is a limit to the number of business names that you can register under one micro-enterprise?

Also, how can I find out if a business name is already in use? I've scanned through our local 'pages jaunes' and searched on info bilan but where else could I look? And what's the position if we start to use the name then find someone else is using it?
